Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the fish quality at Wright's, highlighting the use of proper British fish, making each meal stand out. Many reviews specifically mention the haddock, which comes fried to a perfect crisp, retaining its juiciness inside. The generous pots of tartar sauce and the option for curry sauce in varying intensities receive frequent praise, adding a fun twist to the typical dining experience. Portions are another highlight; the servings come in substantial sizes, guaranteeing satisfaction without breaking the bank. Customers appreciate the friendly staff who serve not only quality food but also a welcoming attitude that creates a comfortable atmosphere. Plus, the kid-friendly menu makes it an excellent option for family outings.

Most Disliked

Some patrons note that the busy peak times can lead to long queues, especially on Fridays around lunch, which might deter those seeking a quick meal. While the casual approach appeals to many, others feel a more polished dining experience would elevate the venue. Certain diners have mentioned that the atmosphere can get crowded during busy hours, making it less than ideal for quiet conversations. Additionally, while the dishes receive generally positive feedback, a few have expressed a desire for more variety on the menu, suggesting perhaps a few more side options to complement the classic fish and chips.

The haddock was fried to perfection! The batter was so crunchy and not too thick. The chips and cod were satisfying too. Definitely an unexpected gem with such great value! The owners were also such sweet people - generous with the tartare sauce too!!

The fish was crispy on the outside, juicy and fleshy on the inside. Generous serving with chips. The ketchup and tartar sauce came with the set. A real traditional English fish n chips.

First time in the UK and first stop was Manchester. As soon as I landed here, looked up for the iconic fish and chips and it didn’t disappoint. The fish was crispy and the vinegar added a nice complexity to the fish. Do go out to grab yourself a bite😁

Great quality fish. Uses proper British fish and not the gross sloppy pangasius or basa other cheap places have resorted to. Curry sauce comes in two "heats", I went spicy and it was delicious. Chips are proper chips. Great option of a small fish dinner for £7 which in today's prices is decent because they don't scrimp on the amount of food you get.

Nice welcome by friendly staff. Food was good size portion, we shared a small and it was enough, cooked quickly and to order. Would heartily recommend to anyone. Not sure it beats southern fish and chips but a great try. 😉

Our first time eating fish and chips, it was exactly as I expected. The fish was very soft and the touch of the vinegar was great, next time I would add even more. Lovely place, and very gentle service.
